In Britain, at the moment, the government is exercised; in response, of course, to the electorate; about internet child pornography. who would reject outright any effort to establish here what is done in Europe (and by extension the UK), on the basis that it represents foreign, creeping socialism.
The condemnation of one 'perversion' easily leads to the condemnation of all perversions. I'm glad you brought this up because I've been very concerned about what is going on in Britain. At the same time, as you are all aware I'm sure, censorship of one kind or another is "creeping" into U. authoritative structures (private and public) in alarming ways.
The reason given, it was said, is that the excised "material would pose considerable harm to the viewer" (my emphasis).
This is not the first time I've come across this particular rationale for censorship.
And this is followed by a BATS scene where the blonde is tied to a stake but those obnoxious good guys interrupt it almost immediately after the fire is lit. There's more branding pics in the Hot Iron Database along with the video link and I'll post more BATS ones over at the Stakedamsels forum. Just implied by the FBI agents it happened because of the look of the corpses. My parents were very conservative but they died when I was 14.
Actually, I thought the most effective scene of the show came at the very beginning, where we see another woman slowly being tortured by being crushed with large rocks. That very short less then ten second pyre on fire bats scene made no entertainment sense to me at all. I live with my stepsister and boyfriend now who are much more lax when it comes to things like this - even though I don't think they really know how much I am into this kind of stuff.
I'd like to find out exactly what is meant by "harm to the viewer" and how this is determined from the targeted content.
